St. Michael’s
The original 15th century parish church overlooks the town and Otter Valley. Monthly ecumenical services are held there during the summer, as are Ascension, Patronal and other occasional services. The churchyard, used for burials and interment of ashes, is partially supported by East Devon District Council. St. Michael’s is looked after by a Management Committee answerable to the PCC, and there is an programme for improvements and raising funds. A kitchen and toilet facilities were installed some years ago and recently an electronic organ has been given in memorial of an Old Honitonian. St Michael’s is an excellent venue for concerts, drama and art exhibitions. We have recently started a weekly Eucharist (Thursdays at 10am), the Church has also been re-licensed for weddings, and was the venue for last summers “Playdays” ~ a Playscheme for Primary School children. |
